I was in a place where they sold pet fish my little sister was looking
at them and crying because of what she saw in the Goldfish tank. I
expected to see one dead fish as normal, but when I looked into the
overcrowded Goldfish tank and I was amazed to see dozens of Goldfish
floating around dead! I immediately went to a worker and told them of
the situation that was making my sister so upset. That was when I
learned about Goldfish shock. Goldfish shock is when a Goldfish is
brought to a new place of habitation and looks about it's new
surroundings and it's heart goes crazy and it then stops because of the
shock of it's new environment and it dies. Sometimes they try to shock
the fish back to life by putting them into ice water or warm water then
back into normal temperatures but it sadly usually does not work. Now
all of this is rather quite interesting, but where am I getting at? Why
did I just explain Goldfish shock? The point is many christian young
people also go through Goldfish shock when they go into a new
environment. Thousands of young people go to college each year and with
each year hundreds of christian young people go into shock and lose
their faith. A new place causes trouble and shakes their faith they are no longer protected in the way that secure familiarity of family and friends and the church they grew up in. For people going into college I can only offer advice base your college choice on where you can find fellow believers to help keep you on track, take time in prayer and fasting before you make your decision on where you go to college find someone who will help you pray and don't get stressed out by the many people who provide suggestions on where to go to college and all the other things based on the decision to go to college. Above all pray and fast and take the time to research and above all trust in God that he will help make the decision.
Proverbs 3:5 King James Version (KJV) " 5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."
With God's help we can escape Goldfish shock and instead of becoming like a bunch of dead fish we can grow in faith and show others our faith is not dead and with God he can and will help us through all circumstances. So trust in God and don't be a dead fish.
