Meet God; Part 1

Meet God.  Who exactly is God?  We all know of God but do we really know him?  I don't mean we know what God does or what he can do for us, but do we know him?  Did you know there are actually dangers for not knowing him in Matthew 7:21-23 Jesus says "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

So... Meet God.
God is Holy.
Leviticus 11:45
For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy. (first holy here just means pure)
Joshua 24:19
And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the LORD: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.
1 Samuel 2:2
There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.
1 Chronicles 16:35
And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.
Psalm 71:22
I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel.
Psalm 99:5
Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.
Mark 1:24
Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.
1 Corinthians 3:17
If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
Revelation 4:8
And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORD God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

Now these are just a few of the many verses proclaiming that God is Holy.
What does holy mean?
The word Holy means in this context to be pure and sacred which is only found in God.
Pure is to be clean and sacred be highly revered.

A Simple Truth Jesus Loves Me

"Jesus loves me this I know
For the Bible tells me so
Little ones to him belong
They are weak but he is strong
Yes Jesus loves me
Yes Jesus loves me
Yes Jesus loves me
The Bible tells me so."
These simple but profound words have been heard in almost every language of the world.  This is the song Jesus loves me.  I was going through some hard times lately  I wondered does God really care? Then the next thing I knew I heard the song Jesus Loves Me.  Lately I've been thinking about what kind of big things might God have in store for me?  I really don't do anything our culture considers important, I don't sing, I really don't talk in front of large groups.  I work mostly behind the scenes, however I would not change that.  Teaching a Bible study that no one really hears about gets no praise, and nether does helping clean up, but that is where I find the most joy in doing the little things for Jesus.
The story behind the song Jesus Loves Me
The song Jesus Loves Me was written by Anna Warner who helped out with her uncles Bible study in Constitution Island, New York, 1860.  She originally wrote the song to place in her book Say and Seal it's a story about a little boy in the story the boy is sick his Sunday school teacher comes to visit him and sings to him the song Jesus Loves Me.  The tune of Jesus Loves Me was added in 1862 by William Batchelder Bradbury, he also added the chorus "Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus loves me..." For a song so simple it has changed millions of lives.
